Appreciate the journey.

Picture the journey to your goal as a set of 100 steps.

There is only one way to get to the top of a set of 100 steps, by working your way from step 1, towards 5, 10, 20, 50, etc.

It may be at step 20 that your labour starts to pay off and you have something to show for it.

From the outside, it may seem like you just started at step 1 and got a lucky break - and someone who is just starting out may expect to see this step straight away.

What they cannot see is the first 19 steps that you've taken with nothing to show for it.

Another analogy I can give you is someone that is chopping wood; they may take 19 swings at the wood with nothing to show for it, but on the 20th strike the wood splits open.

If someone only saw you take your 20th strike, they would expect to chop wood in one fail swoop.

Again, in reality, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Anything that's worth having will not come straight away, 90% of people don't catch a lucky break, they just hit the wood enough times to finally make it break.

Keep taking sustainable steps and chipping away at your goals, and create your own luck - because luck can't be relied on.
